JY Music Academy is led by Johnny Yim, a renowned Hong Kong pop song and concert producer, arranger, composer, and pianist. The academy aims to share his more than 20 years of experience in the music production and performance industry.
Johnny won first place in the 16th CASH Songwriting Contest organized by the Hong Kong Composers and Authors Society in 2004, and has since devoted himself fully to the music production industry. Over the years, he has created many well-known songs and performances, including singer Stephanie Cheng's "Traffic Light," Stephy Tang's "Electric Light Bulb," GEM's "Sleeping Beauty," William So's "Who's That," Alfred Hui's "Ode to Youth," and Hins Cheung's "Invisible Amusement Park," among others. Recently, he has also produced songs for overseas singers, such as "Ichiban Suki na Hana" by Japanese popular girl group NMB48's Yoshida Akari, "Ikanaide" by female singer MISIA, and "Thank You for Love" for Koikeya's advertisement song.
Singer Hacken Lee's series in the Hunan Satellite TV program "I Am a Singer," and the concert series by Hins Cheung since 2009, were all formed under Johnny's musical leadership. In 2022, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra invited young conductor Lio Kuokman to collaborate with Johnny in a series of three popular piano concerto concerts.
